happy new year! here's my '25 lettering summary i'm so thankful to Matt for giving me an opportunity and kickstarting my professional lettering journey. i learned so much from him. i wish he could see how far i've gotten in just a few months... i hope to letter more in 2026!

I promised some samples of lettering from the manga Hope You're Happy, Lemon by Mizuki Kishikawa, so here we go. It's now on sale! Kishikawa's style is really fun, and super busy at times, and I had a lot of fun trying to match it.

my biggest wishlist for titles i wanted to letter... it's my favorite manga since serialization and the one that pushed me into learning how to letter... so i'm both happy its getting licensed and sad i won't work on it... but mostly upset this title is so unfitting and different from the original..

watched the CSM movie today! it was so great, this is one of my fav arcs in part 1... ended up crying of course 🥲

finally a weekend i can do wtv i want without feeling guilty 🛌

i swear font sfx work takes so much longer than if i was allowed to just draw them 🥲

Life is so precious. Tell your friends that you love them every chance you get

Hard not to think about what the future could have been for Matt. He was unstoppable, and I was looking forward to the kinds of manga he'd be working on in five, ten, or twenty years. He had so many books he was passionate about, so much he wanted to share with others, and such an infectious energy.

Matt was the first person to give me an opportunity in the manga industry and for that I'll forever be grateful to him. But besides that, he was a really kind and altruistic person and you could feel his passion for manga. I'm really sad I'll never get to chat with him again...

Today, September 1st is Letterer Appreciation Day. Celebrated on Gaspar Saladino's birthday who was one of the greatest comic book letterers to ever pick up a pen. So, please appreciate the artistry of lettering which is more than just words on a comic book page.
