There are always people who have no qualms about getting what they want through violence. Normally, they understand that laws prevent them. But they also understand that if collaborators control enforcement, there is no enforcement. Reliable enforcement is most important in preventing crime.

This morning we saw a coyote in our very suburban paved neighborhood. We saw it about a block away, and my husband said "that's not a dog." We and the coyote looked at each other for a moment. The coyote thought better of it, turned and left. We still have two wild bunnies in the neighborhood.

Rape is not a crime of sexual desire gone out of control. It is a deliberate act to exert power, control, and dominance. Men who feel weak rape someone physically weaker to feel strong. Now, how weak do you have to feel to decide you can only subdue a girl in middle school?

Trump is not defunding good things so he has money for stupid things. They are independent choices. Dictators only want to spend public money on things that benefit them, like luxuries and enough security to hold back the rabble (us). Anything else is superfluous.

Schumer and Jeffries were elected in a peaceful time when there was a sane person in the White House. We're suddenly at war with the president and his party, and we need a different kind of leader. I have not seen Schumer or Jeffries show that they understand the assignment. We need leaders who do.
