Great event in Crawley with Mark Billingham, ably chaired by Derek Farrell. A library with the most incredible staircase Ive seen in a while, a knowledgeable crowd & a local bookseller. We threw around some risqué jokes, chatted crime & sorted out the world's problems. Not bad for an evening's work.

Always wonderful to discover a new author. I'm listening to THE TREES by Percival Everett. A brilliantly dark satire, using a terrible, racist incident from America's past to stunning effect. Everett is a Pulitzer Prize winner. From the first sentence you know u r in good hands.
