This week’s #crochet square: Whale Watching. Stayed overnight at Port Angeles for my birthday. Read it was a good place for whale watching. This is my version of Narwhal School from excellent book, The Hooktionary. I had to start over 8 times & it’s a little bumpy, but I declared it done. Happy 73!

Every birthday I #weave a scarf. Nothing fancy, mostly plain weave. This year “Velvet,” 2 skeins from Bad Sheep Yarn (one plain, one with sparkle). Honey got me a set of purple Streamlined Furls for my birthday. Yes, I’m in Crochet Heaven!

This week’s #crochet square: August Heatwave. 100 degrees today. Working on my 4th border of my afghan. Once that’s done, I’ll begin attaching the borders to the squares that have been completed. Whew! A lot of work.

This week’s #crochet square: No Natl Guard in DC. I try to learn something new with each square. Crochet Secrets by The Knotty Boss has been great. Learned how to make neat stripes and tidy edges this week. A work-in-progress.

This week’s #crochet square: I took a photo of a failed square, desaturated it, took a photo of all of my blue yarns, desaturated it, chose blues to match, and…voila…2AM Bloom! I’ve been piecing together all the squares so that I can finish by the end of the year and not carry over into 2026.

This week’s #crochet square is Oscar’s Eye. Poor Birdie-Bear has an infection in his eye. So hard on a 43-year old parrot. But he’s doing better now. Yay!

My #crochet square this week for my year of granny squares is Dahlia, inspired by my dahlia plant who is just a monster. This vibrant pink is Cascade Ultra Pima Sapphire Pink which I love but must be used sparingly.

My #crochet square this week is Heat Wave. Yes, Wednesday got up to 94, hence the Heat Wave. I’ve started piecing together all the squares. Using magenta yarn. Shades of Janie Crowfoot.

My #crochet square for this week: Midnight Waves: Texas Flood. My heart goes out to the loved ones of the victims of the flash flood. I’d like to finish this afghan by the end of the year, so that means I have to crochet afghan borders ahead of time and piece the squares together as I go.

So sad about Brian Wilson passing. My first album at 14 was Pet Sounds which I played a million times and continued to listen to all my life. I find “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” so sweetly haunting. Would like it played at my memorial.

My color square for this week. Pale Pacific NW skies and sun, still a few rain clouds (bobble stitch) and rain (beads). With all my new #crochet books, I have plenty of inspiration. Had a come to Jesus moment and decided to not copy squares, but to create squares, hence the PNW sky.

Ha! Squirrel and pigeon-proof new bird feeder. The goldfinches looked relieved.

Knee-deep in my square a week afghan. Starting late at 18 wks into the year & making 18 gray granny sq. for those weeks. I see, however, by the new books I got, that I who have crocheted for 61 years am still at the beginners level according to the patterns. Lordy!

Went to Powell’s Bookstore and loaded up on #crocheting books. This goes with all my ultra pima cotton yarn that came in today. My shawl WIP put away temporarily as I am onto a 2025 mostly granny squares afghan!

Pausing on my sweater to start #crocheting my shawl. Hobbii’s Universe’s fingering weight yarn makes for slow work, but the color transitions are so smooth.

Still working on my sweater. Got the back panel done and am starting on the front. I thought I was working top down, but turns out I’m crocheting bottom to top. Weird.

#Crocheting my first sweater. And it’s so scary!

Reading is important. I read every single day. Books have gotten me out of bad situations. I never feel alone if I have a book in hand.

Finished #crocheting a couple more bags. Here’s the gray one. I think I have almost all the colors now and will move on to another project.

Finished my first completed towel. A little short and still learning how to sew down the edges, but one finished towel down! #weaving

One more time. Starting a new dish towel. This time doing one at a time so as not to waste yarn. The next dish towel will not be so red heavy. #weaving

As usual, I’m waiting for yarn to arrive so I can start on a new project. I’m jazzed about #weaving a new scarf, but must save all that jazz and not start a different new project lest the jazz leaks out. Weird, I know, but that’s how creativity works for me.

Finished my #crochet bag (2mm macrame cord) that I’ll use from everything from a bag to carry my purse stuff to using as a clothes carrier when I go on trips. So handy!

March is National #Crochet Month. I’ve been crocheting a bag. A little hard on arthritis hands, but will be so handy. My “Happy Hooker” book is my favorite crochet book.
