The U.S. failed to appear before the UN Human Rights Council for its scheduled human rights review in Geneva today. While the review has been postponed, our call for accountability cannot be. The U.S. must show up, listen, and take action to end the ongoing harms to children and families.

Healthcare and food are basic rights. Cutting safety nets puts more children in crisis and families at risk. We hold governments accountable when they fail kids — and we won’t stop fighting until every child has what they need to grow and thrive.

For nearly 30 years, eligible immigrant children and families could count on programs like Head Start and community health centers.   A sudden policy shift is eliminating access to at least thirteen programs—threatening the health, stability, and futures of thousands of families nationwide.

Last Friday, a federal judge struck down the Administration’s latest bid to end the Flores Settlement Agreement. This ruling is a major victory for the rights and dignity of immigrant children, ensuring that crucial protections remain in place for those in U.S. custody.

Children’s Rights is one of only three organizations allowed to speak with immigrant kids in federal custody under the Flores Agreement—a court order protecting them from prolonged detention and cruelty. Next month, we return to court demanding government accountability and humane treatment.
