Finally getting the newer Panpas ziploc games to the table. All of them have been a hit, with Black Candle drawing the biggest laughs.

NYCC was an absolute success.

The Strong National Museum of Play is unbelievable. A tremendous space with a collection that lives up to the varied forms play exists in. So much of it is dedicated to play areas for kids, but the exhibits are rich for all ages.

Another Gen Con in the books. Had a lot of fun running demos of Dying Message and TRND for Oink Games. It's tough to beat that feeling of being around people intensely in your hobby for most of a week.

Another good year for food trucks at Gen Con.

Mushroom Sort is the kind of deduction game I LOVE that fluctuates well between certain and informed decisions. Rounds are quick so every move matters as you hunt for the cards you need in front of your opponents to make a poker-like set.

City business wasn't gonna keep me from a new Absolute Martian Manhunter.

Spooktacular was a huge hit this past weekend. Feels like it hits that sweet spot for the competitive asymmetry people like from Root at a much lower level of complexity and game time (40 min to 1 hour). Plus the theme of horror movies come-to-life is so fun and well implemented.

"Call of Yeti" rules. The prediction system and opportunity to increase your opponent's bids with a throwaway card are great, not to mention the stellar art. Wish I had tabled it sooner. "Rumble Nation" deluxe edition was a winner. The daimyo powers are cool without throwing off the vibe of the og.

Sad to report that the library in my system that had Twilight Imperium available for CHECK OUT no longer owns it. I'm surprised it was ever there at all and I'm sure it was a nightmare to circ, but I'll miss getting to say you COULD borrow Twilight Imperium from our system.

Looking into interactive fiction novels for a class, and ILL came in clutch with "Consider the Consequences!" (1930!) by Doris Webster and Mary Alden Hopkins. It's available online and will be republished by Penguin soon, but it's so cool to see the markups from previous readers in this copy.

So nice to be following a comic book release again. Issue #2 of Absolute Martian Manhunter continues to deliver stellar art and composition.

Got a whole day of games in with my board game pal from Brazil. Always a pleasure to see him when he visits the states, but especially when his family's also here to game with us. We find out about so many games from each other. Grateful that we met through HeroClix competitions so many years ago.

Got to speak about building community with board games in libraries to other members of my system. Highlighted the benefits of having language independent games and different languages in your collection, and using them to bridge language barriers in programs.
