The discourse on the bird app reminds me how important the intergenerational aspect of fandom is. When I went to doujin events in japan I always saw older fujos, certainly in fandom for over 30+ years. It is incredibly stupid to think older women have no place in fandom.

Huge can of worms noone wants to revisit, but looking at this week’s discourse I am reminded more than ever we need a 3 hour long video about the mess that VLD left online fandom in general, and how much KL was an overblown fabrication meant to overshadow everything (i speak as an ex KL shipper)

I dreamt a SK8 fan animated a whole episode adaptation of a popular A/T omegaverse fic where Tadashi gets pregnant and there is Drama in the mansion. I am strickly T/A, but I was still watching it in my head in awe.

Wish I could talk to someone about these bittersweet feelings over tabling at cons, being on the older millenial side and also visibly in fandom. I am having a small crisis. Just morose all around.

I think the way fanfic genre tropes and categories are used in mainstream marketing now is eminently lame. Not because association with fanfic is lame but because of the co-opting of language used to help navigate private and often subversive spaces is now just another sales marketing tool.

Finished up an important thing and delivered it two days ago, but now summer is nearly over and after spening most of my vacations working (without pay) and angry at the world without possibility of escapism, I am ready to go insane. Didn’t even manage to finish my other big project.

People are so starved for whimsy that KDH is number one on ntflx forever. Not a diss btw, I enjoyed the movie fine (I am not the target audience anyway) it delivered exactly what was on the tin and wasn’t afraid of what the public might think about it. Also proves that people DO love musicals lol

How do people have the energy to make new stuff all the time for AA. I go to very few events and I always struggle as of late. All my energy goes into making stories or comics too which take a long time bc I can never be normal about stories.

I’m sorry but as a creative you cannot be bending to the whims & will of a demanding audience. Good art will not appeal to everyone & your voice won’t either. It’s supposed to be this way. Anything else runs the real risk of being soulless consumerist drivel. Do yourself the favor & stay true.
