Today is April Fool’s Day. I honestly don’t like April Fool’s Day, as more often than not, people just use it as an excuse to be cruel to each other and then excuse it as a joke. Like Lucy in this comic. Don’t be like Lucy.

This one probably isn’t an authorized poster, but I mostly like it anyways…except for Woodstock. That Woodstock is atrocious.

Watching an episode of The Facts of Life, I noticed a Snoopy and Woodstock poster in the background. A quick Google search and I found the exact poster:

Just got some old comics I ordered online. I’ve been meaning to pick up three of these for awhile. The Uncle Scrooge issue was just out of curiosity.

DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp is one of those stories that I have multiple copies of: the original 1990 Disney Comics graphic novel, the DVD and the Disney Afternoon Adventures book. Now I just need DuckTales the Flamethrower to complete my collection.

Early on, I had considered having Mervin be one of a group of lookalike mice the way that Woodstock is one of many lookalike birds.

Words to live by…maybe? The little birds with umbrellas are cute, though.

Between last month’s DuckTales Valentine’s Day Special and this month’s Uncle Scrooge, I think that we’re going to see an increase in people shipping Scrooge and Magica.

Doing other research, but ran across this Donald Duck comic strip of him using a copy machine, and it made me laugh. I can't think of the last time I heard someone describe a piece of misbehaving tech as "on the blink." Spotted in the Albuquerque Journal 11/10/1991, Page 91

Today is Carl Barks’ birthday! He was born on this day in 1901, and lived to be 99 years old, passing on August 25, 2000. He is best known for his many comic book stories featuring Donald Duck, and for creating Scrooge McDuck and many of the other characters who inhabit Duckburg.

As much as I think that the more recent Uncle Scrooge comics are so much better, there’s still something fun about looking up these old offbeat Whitman stories.

Found this at Safeway today. Honestly, I like the size of this magazine better than the digests.

Ignatz Mouse plots his latest brick-tossing attempt while smoking a cigar. While I don’t smoke, I think it makes a funny visual hook for characters who have an attitude problem to be smoking a cartoonishly large cigar.

“Wait until Jon, Odie and Nermal get a taste of my Bubble Gum Stew…heh-heh-heh! They’ll be blowing bubbles for weeks!” I know, I know…this is pretty dumb, even for this show…”

Now that Kitty had a typewriter, he could write his novel. Except that he had no paper. Oh, and he couldn’t read or spell. So much for that one…

The prototype that was never mass produced (no, I don’t own it).

Anything that goes on the comic page is art. Drawing is art. Lettering is art. Coloring is art. Protect letterers and colorists, they get the pages in crunch time. Things will happen, but ideally they should have everything they need upfront from the writer and artist so they can do their job.
