Nothing better than doing a gig in a Scottish pub on Hogmanay, like at the Settle Inn, in Stirling. Absolutely brilliant crowd in, including wedding guests, tourists and locals. They didn’t even mind my occasional bum notes and (by the end) croaky voice. Happy Hogmanay and lang may yer lum reek.

There was a very drunk woman who kept shouting “Kenny Rogers” & wiggling her bum at everyone & her pal decided to film me from 2ft away with the phone light on then knocked my mic-stand over. This medication I've been prescribed for nerve pain is knocking me for six. I've got all the energy of a damp lettuce leaf. The doctor did say that would happen at first. Hope its worth it, I hate not being productive.

Once again, very grateful for the NHS here in Scotland. Phoned for an appointment this morning, got seen and examined by the doctor less than 2 hours later. Medication was sorted straight away, and didn't get presented with a huge bill like in some other countries.

On the anniversary of VE Day, remembering my grandfather, Michael LeDrew and the rest of the merchant sailors like him who left their homelands ,(Canada in his case) and risked their lives during WW2 to ship troops and supplies everywhere they were needed and often under threat. #VEDay

Played a covers gig in Edinburgh last night, good crowd in, as well as the fella from the Performing Rights Society who was auditing my set list (as per the venue license). It was a bit weird at first but he was actually really nice and very supportive, said he enjoyed himself too which is a bonus.

The cruelty is the point. The banal, vicious, performative cruelty. Turns out ‘anti-woke’ just meant anti-decency, anti-humanity & anti-rule of law.

A very dreich (rainy) day & I had to get my MOT done on the car, which ended up costing me a load of cash. On the positive side, as I had to wait all day, I headed into the local library for the first time in years, got some work done and read some history books, which eased the stress a wee bit
