Nothing better than doing a gig in a Scottish pub on Hogmanay, like at the Settle Inn, in Stirling. Absolutely brilliant crowd in, including wedding guests, tourists and locals. They didnāt even mind my occasional bum notes and (by the end) croaky voice. Happy Hogmanay and lang may yer lum reek.

If the news is getting a wee bit heavy, here's a tune I put out back in 2024 called "Falling Down". Hope you enjoy it, and if you do, feel free to share and have a listen to my other stuff.

This is one of my rockier tunes, that I put out earlier this year. Just a simple song about superficial and in-authentic people, especially those in power. If you like it, turn it up and let your neighbours hear it too :) (Links in the reply below)ļæ¼

Iām usually playing covers gigs these days (bills to pay), but Iāve been revisiting my older Americana inspired songs. I was playing through āNowhere to Runā this afternoon. My newer stuff is available on my pinned post.

Seriously BBC why do you give Reform & Farage so much coverage? We never hear from Stephen Flynn who has double the MPs, never mind the Lib Demās.

Gutted that Bobby Whitlock has passed away. One of the best vocalists in rock and was always very kind in our brief interactions online in recent years. Rest well Bobby

On Saturday I had a fun acoustic covers gig at the Settle Inn, in Stirling (which is so old that Jacobites used to frequent it). Always a great place to play but even better when there are folk in who really enjoy what you do š.

And on it goes. Israeli politicians using UK media to stoke up outrage around Bob Vylan & Kneecap must be laughing their heads off at how easy it all is. I think this brings the Palestinian death toll *since the Glastonbury performance* in to triple figures.

Last nights gig was fun. Most folk were really cool & complimentary. There was a very drunk woman who kept shouting āKenny Rogersā & wiggling her bum at everyone & her pal decided to film me from 2ft away with the phone light on then knocked my mic-stand over. Another Friday night gig in Edinburgh š

This medication I've been prescribed for nerve pain is knocking me for six. I've got all the energy of a damp lettuce leaf. The doctor did say that would happen at first. Hope its worth it, I hate not being productive.

Once again, very grateful for the NHS here in Scotland. Phoned for an appointment this morning, got seen and examined by the doctor less than 2 hours later. Medication was sorted straight away, and didn't get presented with a huge bill like in some other countries.

On the anniversary of VE Day, remembering my grandfather, Michael LeDrew and the rest of the merchant sailors like him who left their homelands ,(Canada in his case) and risked their lives during WW2 to ship troops and supplies everywhere they were needed and often under threat.

Played a covers gig in Edinburgh last night, good crowd in, as well as the fella from the Performing Rights Society who was auditing my set list (as per the venue license). It was a bit weird at first but he was actually really nice and very supportive, said he enjoyed himself too which is a bonus.

The cruelty is the point. The banal, vicious, performative cruelty. Turns out āanti-wokeā just meant anti-decency, anti-humanity & anti-rule of law.

A very dreich (rainy) day & I had to get my MOT done on the car, which ended up costing me a load of cash. On the positive side, as I had to wait all day, I headed into the local library for the first time in years, got some work done and read some history books, which eased the stress a wee bit
