Question: How long did the research take? Answer: About 3 months from the time of receipt of funding to when the exhibition was put together #CILIPNE

Northumberland's first mobile library van, affectionately nicknamed 'Bessie', was purchased in 1951. A second van for the North of the county was purchased in 1953 and was immediately successful with 6,078 books issued in the first 8 weeks #CILIPNE

The first county librarian was Ruth Eveline Baker, who was 28 when appointed as the County Librarian for Northumberland in 1924 #CILIPNE

The rural library scheme began when Northumberland County Council adopted the Public Libraries Act in August 1924, receiving aid from a Carnegie UK Trust Grant #CILIPNE

With funding from Arts Council England, a project celebrating Northumberland Libraries' centenary included an exhibition, oral history recordings, library events and a theatre performance telling their story #CILIPNE

Question: How did you select the student interns? Answer: The vacancies were advertised by the Careers Service, before applicants were interviewed by a panel including Lauren #CILIPNE

The team offer CPD for school and college staff, sharing examples of effective practice from the start of the student journey through to the completion of A-Levels #CILIPNE

Workshops offered by the team cover topics such as finding and evaluation information, as well as how to use this information, and referencing #CILIPNE

Feedback from students helped the team identify trends and pinpoint where terminology and titling of resources wasn't clear #CILIPNE

This student-led approach included user-led resource creation, which arose from focus groups with A-Level and undergraduate students to inform resource type and content #CILIPNE

Lauren notes that the team had a lot of requests from A-Level students for support, noting that the website's offering has grown due to a collaborative, student-led project over the span of two years. #CILIPNE

Lauren begins by giving an overview of Newcastle's Library Education Outreach team, which works to inspire school and college students using Newcastle's information resources and study skills support #CILIPNE

Academic librarians should learn why and how students use AI tools, teaching them to use these tools effectively and ethically. #CILIPNE

Teachers' concerns with AI include worries about the loss of skills among students, the lack of standard policies across universities for dealing with AI, and frustration about the difficulty of detecting AI use #CILIPNE

Janice now details some perceptions of teachers towards AI tools, including the importance of academic integrity and attending lectures to build one's knowledge base, as well as the limitations of AI in helping in the dissemination of research results #CILIPNE

Janice notes that the best ways of increasing AI awareness among students include introducing AI tools in a gentle manner, and encouraging students to think critically and understand what is expected of them #CILIPNE

Janice details the students' perceptions of AI tools, noting that there is a notable reliance on these tools, as well as a significant level of comfort in using these. Reasons suggested for these perceptions include time restrictions & low confidence in writing skills, as well as curiosity #CILIPNE

Janice notes that, as information professionals, it's essential for us to have an understanding of the growing trends in Artificial Intelligence #CILIPNE

Next up is Janice Fernandes at the University of West London with 'Artificial Intelligence and Perceptions: The student, the teacher and the librarian' #CILIPNE

In response to a question, Shazia notes that the feedback from students indicates that the approach has been positively received, with high attendance and engaged students. #CILIPNE

Shazia notes that informed learning allowed students to experience information literacy in a richer way, and used reflection to review her own information literacy provision to identify changes that could be made #CILIPNE

Students were introduced to a number of different methods of reflection in the sessions Shazia offered to students in the Faculty, looking at how they could apply the information and skills they learned to other contexts #CILIPNE

'Informed learning is simultaneously about information use and learning' - it's not just acquiring information, but recognising that the ways we use information contribute to the learning process #CILIPNE

Shazia begins by introducing the concept of Informed Learning (Bruce), and how it helped reframe her approach to information literacy as she moved to her new role in a different faculty. #CILIPNE
