Hi Y'all. I have been 'away'. Work went hard for several weeks. A project is over, culminated in an all-nighter this weekend to get it done. I'm on vacation this week to rest, and all I WANT to do is sleep. I'll try to be more active here, but if I am not, know that I will eventually have energy. /1

Good news, no late night major work stuff this weekend. Bad news, still have to do it all next weekend, with panicking developers coming to me all week trying to catch up on the testing they were supposed to finish last week. Good news, we get to hang out for our whole anniversary weekend!

As expected, so far, these week has been a long month, and culminates in a very busy, late nights weekend. Hopefully I get a break from the work stress a bit after that. I've been reading when i can and such. This weekend also brings my & @winterlady1.bsky.social's 23rd Wedding anniversary! Woo!

Haven't done a Happy Card of The Day pull for myself in a while. We have a meeting with my great-grand-boss today, and The King of Swords may refer to how he is going to be, but also could very much refer to my plan to do some pretty honest tell-it-like-it-is when things come to me. It is needed.

The crows were riled up this morning. When I went out to look, a bluejay had joined the chorus. It was clear that they were not happy that 4 of the feral clowder had gathered in one spot too close to the big oak. Once they dispersed, the head crow took off to another tree and things got quiet.

It's been a rough week in my head and body, and I feared i would not be in the mood to play Open The Mail. But then, we watched John Batiste getting to rave about music I hadn't really listened to in years, and we put on some Duke Ellington and some Thelonious Monk, and I was ok. #MusicIsMagic

So today, the guys are here to cut down one of the oaks in our yard. It got the wilt that was spreading across the park, and is unfortunately, in the last throes. We are hoping the wilt spares the other nearby oaks. White oaks often survive it. But red oaks cannot.

At the end of June, I set up a voice-command to add an entry to a notes app whenever I have an ocular migraine. I also made one for every time I see a deer. So far, the deer are winning, 29 to 13, and most of the deer ones are multiples. Don't ignore your troubles, but count your blessings too.

I love composition notebooks. I love fountain pens. Unfortunately I don't keep notebooks organized, and notes disappear amidst doodles. Unless of course, I take a picture or transfer the notes to txt files, etc. Then I'm organized. So, my woo-woo notes are now in Obsidian. I'm tracking something.

August was a long year. I'm catching up, y'all. Also I have thoughts. I'll probably post more. But then again, never tell 'em everything. 😂

Late night work and early morning on call alerts kicked my ass. But I get to sit by my stoop and look at the trees. And then have a visitor show up and almost decide to approach.

Ok, I decided I'm going to start catching up. Y'all talk a lot in 4 days or so. I say that with love. And snark. But snark is one of my love languages, I swear.

I've been absent. I've ended up extending my hermit-mode after getting sick because a bunch of other stuff happened around here too and I kinda crashed. Letting my mental and spirit health recover as well as my body. Not ignoring y'all, just not present. I'll be back.

I envy my wife, for throwing off being sick so fast. I don't envy how hard she gets knocked down to heal fast. I do the slow burn. I'm in day 2. Called in. Lower fever than she got, but raging head and tummy issues, ears ringing away. Bleh. I'll probably delete this later.

So excited. This is the first kickstarter I ever backed, and the decks have arrived to the artist and are shipping starting next week. It is all painted with watercolors made with earth pigments from foraged rock, minerals, etc. Can't wait to try them.

Kind of an early birthday present. @winterlady1.bsky.social tricked me into talking about buying this again, so that we would. It's a very nice altar work table with a tree of life and Celtic-style knot-work design. The tree/roots are reversible for the season or intended energy. Pip approves.

Week off so far: Yesterday and today about gettin stuff done. Starting consolidating what used to be the shared office to half-office-half-study yesterday; Trek out for labwork today. But i swear the REST of the week will feel like a vacation.
