Yesterday the BRIVAC, a volunteer fire brigade, did a prescribed fire during the II Seminário Regional do Manejo Integrado do Fogo. In Brazil, local volunteers are essential for the success of fire management, including during wildfires. Bravo BRIVAC!

Post-fire flowering is one of the coolest thing about studying fires in the Cerrado. Bulbostylis paradoxa (sedge) is my favorite, starting flowering 24 hs post-fire. Last picture: Gomphrena sp dispersing seeds < 1 month post-fire
