Arcane facts, dubious insights and unjustly confident opinions on Leeds United Football Club.
Gutting. Absolutely gutting. But I hope this represents a blueprint for how we tackle the remainder of the season⦠aggressive, physical, direct and relentless. At least go down fighting.

Chelsea away in 2021, this⦠fighting our way back to 2-2 only for a gut-wrencher in injury time. Such a shame. What a second half.

As expected. Letās hope City drop down to 1st gear in the 2nd half and save their legs for tougher challenges aheadā¦

Interesting⦠and at least heās tried to fix the left-hand side. But weādāve complained bitterly about that MF *last* season. Just try to stay in the game as long as possible, I guess.

Without a formation change, Amps-Tanaka-Brenda in MF seems the likeliest combo⦠James comes in on the right. Might be a bit more 4231. As much as BA grates, I think heāll be more useful vs City at 8/10 than Gruev at 6/8. But itās going to be 5-0 whoever plays, tbh.

I slept through the 7-0 under Bielsa and was at a work function in the 2-1 under Allardyce. Praying one of my kids is invited to a birthday party this Saturday.....

I seem to be in a minority about Farke's role yesterday. He got plenty wrong vs Brighton and Forest, but we were competitive and aggressive from the off against one of the best sides in the division. Yes, the subs could have come on a few minutes earlier, but it was still 1-1 when they did.

Another game where top-6 quality punishes bottom-6 mistakes. Thought we did a lot right today: competed all over the pitch, got the ball in the right areas, and worked the keeper several times. But Okafor switching off and Gudmondsson slipping (plus odd wall placement) means we get nothing.

Very good half. With a squad of limited quality, *that* is how you have to approach these games⦠relentless effort, MF tenacity and a very high press. Sustaining it will be the issue, of course, but we canāt sit deep and hope to keep them at bay.

No opposing Prem manager, never mind one as seasoned as Emeri, is looking at that

XI and wondering which problems he needs to solve. Almost no creativity and precious little pace.

So, from 65-1 just after lunch, with a lead of 105⦠we managed to lose by eight wickets before the close of play. Incredible stuff.

Mani⦠damn. I was 16 when the Rosesā debut came out, and within about three weeks *everyone* in my school seemed to have it: the indie kids, the house kids, the trad rock kids, the not-that-arsed-about-music kids. A dollop of sunshiney glue that summer. RIP

Morning meeting. Boss says we'll have a new team member soon. Says "He's Finnish". Me and the only other Brit present immediately say, "he's no finished, he's 28!" ... and then spend the next 15 minutes explaining what, exactly, we found so funny.

This is like the Maccabi Tel Aviv story... a spasm of manufactured, coordinated outrage from those with far greater bad-faith partiality than the subject of their ire.

Farke really needs to ditch the "emotional fanbase" line. Emotion is literally the essence of being a fan. Why else do we invest so much time, energy and cash into a collection of strangers exercising if not for the emotions generated? It's *the whole point*. So, Daniel, stop making us sad...

Thatās a ādirectional defeatā⦠not just about the 90 minutes but about what the performance says what weāre trying to do and how well weāre doing it. Sadly, our weaknesses have become easy to exploit and our strengths, such as they are, easy to nullify. Canāt see this getting better.

Criminal to cough up the equaliser so soon after taking the lead⦠getting their crowd edgy was key today. As it is, theyāre getting between our MF and CBs far too often while weāre looking sluggish and horribly imprecise when do try to venture forward. Ref on 1/10 so far, too.

Wonder what Berg's lawyers will zero in on... 13 separate staffers saying there were issues with Berg's editorship, which came on the back of 100 signatories to an open letter from journalists to BBC bosses about bias, would suggest Jones's article is defendable.

So, on to The City Ground... where our last three visits have returned two losses for Bielsa, one of which felt terminal, and the defeat that finally did for Jesse Marsch. In other news, my motivational speaking tour has been postponed until further notice.

Ten games in and we know where we are now: the relegation dogfight our mediocre recruitment all but guaranteed. We need 9 wins, probably 10 and itās hard to see us adding many to the 3 we have before the turn of the year. A sobering weekend.
