Unsolicited writing advice from someone who's just regained their writing mojo: Stop worrying about the market. Just write something you think is fascinating. If you can, distance yourself from people who sap your confidence about your writing and yourself. Celebrate every achievement.

I received a scholarship place in 2022 and it was invaluable in terms of how I now view craft, approaching the blank page, and my own self-belief. Opportunities like this are so important for diversity in the industry. Apply!!!
