This is a great episode if you’re looking for more info on #directinstruction & #explicitteaching. I especially like the description of how “explicit teaching is synonymous with scaffolding”. Also how explicit teaching is a sequence that ends with sts being able to generalize and adapt. So good!

Funny story! We’re reading “The Gingerbread Man” learning about fairytale, story sequence etc. Having many ELL learners, I like to reinforce vocab quite a bit. So, I ask “What sound does a cow make?” Literally ALL sts reply: “/k/ /ow/“ (I expected “moo!”) 😂😂 My #UFLI lessons are working! #edusky
