It's nice to be writing again. It feels intellectually akin to suddenly running after sitting at a desk for three years. In this case a review of @pelledragsted.bsky.social 's wonderful book Nordic Socialism (strongly recommend you pick up a copy, it's about going beyond social democracy).

Finally back from my study abroad week in Chicago: 1. I love LA 2. I love all the builders regardless of caucus 3. Hyper RR deliberation is bureaucratic and makes us lose political focus. 4. DSA is my home but not the alpha/omega. 5. Some ppl in DSA are still bags of d****.

Bureaucratic machination to not even let the DSA convention hear and vote on One Member, One Vote by the chair and left caucuses has passed. Terrible blow against member democracy.

My single biggest takeaway from the DSA one member, one vote debate is that many caucus leaderships seem to be deeply afraid of direct accountability to large numbers of members beyond their own tiny circles. 1/2

A two tiered democracy is simply not ok for a democratic socialist org. Especially when denying members direct election of the national leadership in order to perpetuate leadership rule by caucuses who represent less than 3.5 percent of DSA. Time for member democracy.

Lockheed strike in 1952 in Burbank. My grandfather drove rivets at this plant in the late 40s after mustering out in WW2 (and before moving the family back to Austin).
