I've been feeling more strongly about this as time passed, but Monster Hunter Wilds is the worst Monster Hunter game as of now. Even if they fix the performance eventually, this game is plagued by design decisions that sound neat on paper but are terrible for the game's flow in practice.

I feel like an idiot when I try to explain to others that I personally liked the things from old monster hunter that were changed for "quality of life." I genuinely kind of miss utilizing my knowledge of the map to find materials because I ran out of potions or some other item after a long fight.

The preparation side of Monhun has so thoroughly been murdered, it's funny how they could've leaned into Wilds' design while heightening the feeling of needing to scavenge supplies during a hunt with how fluid it is but just, don't. Because the game has no friction. And now it's "1hko mons" again.

MHWilds is... structurally and design-wise, a weird game that's at odds with itself.

Im still looking for a critical review on MHWilds' dogdiarrhea game design where the author isn't shying away from decisively calling it a bad Monster Hunter game
