It was always easy for our military to terrorize citizens as Miller describes. That's not the point. The point is that this is America—not the Third Reich—and OUR MILITARY ISN'T TO BE USED THIS WAY. Anyone who can't understand and accept this was NEVER a fan of America, democracy, or rule of law.

1 of 2 - I don’t think most of the people affected were necessarily stupid. They were scared and hurting. Then handed what they thought they needed. It was insidious. They were abused and taken advantage of. They were human. The ones the jumped on any excuse to act badly are a different breed.

All this would be less chilling if it was simply "selfish ends", but those who are driven by absolute belief in a religious or political doctrine are far more dangerous. History is littered with their barbarity....

It's baffling that these people would put so much thought, architecture, and work into dominating others with authoritarianism instead of championing things like universal health care. It is insidious that the religious community was/is manipulated to do the wrong thing.

I wrote and published a sociology article on this in 2017, warning about the corporate ownership of this data and the consequences it was and could have. More poignant with recent events. The use of the churches is really interesting and also disturbing.
