I'm a bit taken back by the new trend in cooking where you take a 9x13 casserole dish, pour in very precise layers or piles of various processed foods until you're up to the very rim of the dish, *THEN* stir, cover, and bake for an hour at 350 degrees. Don't people have large mixing bowls?

The local KFC was too busy with drive-thru orders to wait on walk-ins, so we headed out to Raising Canes. While there, we saw that Raising Canes were selling Pink Plush Puppies for Breast Cancer Awareness. That seems particularly apt when you consider that their mascot has eight nipples.

I had cataract surgery on my right eye a week ago. It was pretty much a non-event. I haven't been driving, and I've tried to stay off the electronics. My vision is a bit blurry with my glasses on or off. Some of that will resolve in the next three weeks, but I will need a new pair of glasses.

Is just past 20:00 here in the Eastern Timezone. What time was The Rapture? Did I miss it, again? I missed all the previous ones!

I don't know who need to hear this, but any random job offers where you work 1 - 2 hours a day, and earn $100 - $600 a day are not real. It's hard enough to find work at $15/hr!

We really need a better method of going through the 11K photos in my phone and segregating the pictures into naked pix of me, naked pix of others, random items on store shelves I wanted to remember, etc. It’s getting to scary to show someone a pic and hope they don’t swipe left or right.

Started my second #python course. You can tell it's a real computer language course. The first exercise was: print("Hello world!")

Close to twenty years ago, I gave up "tighty whities" thinking that I didn't need the support and that I should let them hang and stretch out. They hang all right - as seem from the back. From the front, they're hidden by my #upa. This causes a bit of an issue. When I sit, I sit on them.

I just finished my first online #python course. I may go back and take it again. The web app will pass you if you achieve the desired result, without checking to see how you got there and I'm not as proficient on while loops and if-then loops as I'd like.

The HVAC Tech has arrived! #heat_wave

#heat_wave The Extreme Heat Warning which was originally predicted to end here on Thursday 20:00, is now predicted to end Wednesday (today) 17:00. The portable A/C brought the temp down to 72°F in the dining room overnight. And, we are still expecting the HVAC tech Friday from 12:00 to 16:00.

With the A/C out, cooking takes on an interesting twist. Tonight, Jamaican Jerk chicken with diced tomatoes and Taijin seasoning on No Carb soft tortillas. #heat_wave

#heat_wave Don’t know the dining room temp. A desk lamp/clock reports 80.0°F. Alexa reports the temp on an Echo as a few degrees cooler. Siri reports the temp of a HomePod mini as being 67°F, with the nearby air conditioner being 75°F. Whatever it is, it’s nice!

#heat_wave The portable air conditioner has been running for hours. it's cooler. Tolerable. But, it's not big enough to cool the entire house down to 72 degrees. We knew that going in. It's a big improvement, though.

🔥/❄️ 📞: "Yes, we can have someone come out there to diagnose the issue on Friday, between noon and 4 PM." Diagnose. Friday. Afternoon. That stretches the repair date into next week. Mid-week if parts are needed. Longer if parts are backordered. Plan B. Portable A/C from Costco.

The temperature in the dining room just hit 88.7°F. My iPhone tells me that it’s 90°F outside. We are expecting a callback on Monday to get the Central Air fixed.

Expecting a heatwave Sunday through Wednesday. What would you expect to fail on Saturday? Call placed. Expecting a call back during regular business hours on Monday. $99. To come out, $79 per half hour, plus parts.

I am really loving listening to the #After_Cooking collaboration with #Blue_Man_Group. He is an extremely talented percussionist and composer.

And, in other news ... I stopped by the UPMC/GoHealth Monroeville Urgent Clinic this afternoon. I had a red lump mysteriously appear on the right shoulder. They recommended the UPMC East ER, and 11 hours later, I was released. (I'll skip the description.) I should be fine in a few days.

Picked up the car from the body shop. Looks great!

I ordered some new shorts. For once, I was able to get something other than a shade of khaki. I got a nice chocolate brown. One small detail. These “shorts” come down to my ankles. I’ll need them shortened.
