Not a huge fan of blue cheese, but I had some left over from a Christmas cheese board. Chopped it all up and chucked it on a pizza for tea. Some may say this is sacrilege, but I ated it! It would have been worse to chuck it. (It was nearly 3 weeks past it's BB date).

After almost 5 years of being a unitary authority, I now have a single ID card that will get me into all of our buildings, instead of the 5 I had until now. And our fab security guy has given me a sticky front with the least hideous photo to cover it with.

The options are saying something that is untrue, telling the truth, or saying nothing - which some may deem a "lie by omission". Are we prepared for everyone to be truthful 100% of the time, or do we prefer them to lie to us in order for everyone to feel better? Does my bum look big in this? Yes!

If I go to sleep "early" (before 11.30), I sleep for a little over an hour, then wake up and am more restless. If I go to sleep "late" (after 12.30) I tend to get a more continuous and restful, but overall shorter sleep. Trying again for early and restful.

Email from a parish clerk today to say they couldn't get their precept figure to me by our requested date, but would get it to us by 1 March. I have to submit the report for Council by 7 Feb & annual billing is 28 Feb. If they don't request a precept, we can't bill people on their behalf!

Back to training this evening. Three new students, who recently passed their 3rd degree black belt, in our class and we are the "experienced" ones. I was quite surprised at how much I could and couldn't remember, as I haven't trained since before 21 November.

As I'm always away at Christmas, I don't normally put up decorations. This year I put up the wreath I bought for Pa on the front door and hung the decs from his mini tree in the living room. Ikea floor lamps have many uses.

Detour on the way home to visit Goddaughter's parents as Goddaughter & 3 sons are visiting. I remember her being born, so how are her boys about to be 7, 5 & 2??? Got home to find boiler pump has packed up again. At least I can run the electric heaters off the battery & charge it overnight.

Pa had a subscription to the New Scientist. I had the remaining issues redirected to my address. This week's edition arrived this morning, so I shall read it over the hols.

And it's finished. Apart from trying to stick very tiny things on, the hardest bit was cutting the surrounds for the radiator grills. Underneath, the exhaust has a patch covered in "gun gum". It's missing a few more surface details, but it has the right coloured curtains.

Spent 2.5 hours in town. 20 minutes negotiating the 200 yards past Tesco carpark ,hour eating a Greggs breakfast baguette and chatting with the plant man on the market, hour in a relatively unstressful new Aldi, 10 minutes carting the stuff to the car. If I haven't got it now, we're not having it.

This is the 5th year I've calculated our local taxbase and sent figures out to the parishes. In the last 2 months, I've sent 3 emails with preliminary and now final figures. I've just had an email from a parish chairman asking what it's all about and why are they on the list.

The problem with leaving work at 4.15 is arriving home before 5pm, eating tea and it's only just gone 8 o'clock.

Bearing in mind that a) tomorrow is the last class of the year, b) I may be slightly inebriated, and c) I missed Christmas Jumper Day last week, I've chosen to pack a Star Wars Christmas jumper rather than my sparring kit for tomorrow night. (Also, a jumper is considerably lighter to carry to work)
