normalizing mask wearing makes criminalization, from this kind of surveillance to mask bans, way harder. you wearing a respirator to the grocery store, on transit, in healthcare is a practice of solidarity with the most marginalized in your community on more than one level.

UPDATED MAP: The Board of Pharmacy in NV made a statement making vaccines available with a prescription. The Board of Pharmacy in OR downgraded their access to needing a prescription (a very strange decision)

If you got sick at #Megaplex, it is not necessarily because someone else KNOWINGLY attended while sick. It is possible to be contagious before feeling symptoms, especially with Covid - it is capable of spreading stealthily that way. A simple way of unknowingly bringing illness/

If you came home from #Megaplex sick, please test, preferably over multiple days. While it is not necessarily Covid, it is not improbable since we are currently in a surge (the 11th wave). You cannot be sure if it is Covid or not from symptoms alone, which can vary greatly.

on the bright side, i think our social norms do encourage people to both test and publicly announce the results more than non-furs would. and at @covidsafefurs.org we've gone to cons and given out thousands of tests and masks, and i hope that we've had some impact on general awareness by doing this

but a furry con is pretty unique in drawing large amounts of travelers from around the world *and* circulating them through cramped indoor spaces, on a time scale that allows one fur to pick up covid at the airport and become infectious by the time they attend a room party, before showing symptoms

a furry convention *is* a pretty good place to get infected. among non-furs there are jet-setting tourists and conference attendees, and people who work in places like restaurants, nightclubs, and hospitals, who take on a lot more risk than people who don't do these things
