Sitting on Cley beach this morning and what I thought was a bird landed just behind me. Soon realised it was in fact a bat. Was very mobile amongst the pebbles looking for food. After 2-3 mins it flew off. Can anyone help with ID please? Thank you.

New paper out! We found that in pipistrelle bats, social vocalizations carry a stronger phylogenetic signal than echolocation calls, suggesting the former evolve more slowly, while the latter remains flexible and shaped by the environment.

This yearβs Noctule π¦ pups are well developed already, judging by footage from this morning. I originally set up the Secacam 7 so we knew bats were present at a remote roost before setting off on the 1.5 hour drive to monitor them, but the insight into how bats are using this roost is so valuable
