Today starts Refugee Week UK, and I thought I’d share my first hand embroidered artwork in a series about immigration. This is ‘Citizenship Requirements’, the 1st page of the UK citizenship app in thread & fabric, emphasising the explicit & implicit demands of being a ‘good’, ‘grateful’ immigrant.

Enjoyed giving this talk about East and Southeast Asian communities today at the University of Oxford EDI Community of Practice event. Lovely to spend the morning with such committed and caring colleagues.

Hard to believe it’s exactly one year since my book 'I am Not a Tourist', was published by @harpercollins.bsky.social. Been amazing connecting with readers about what the book has meant to them. Hardcover, e-book and audiobook (narrated by Katie Leung) are available now. Paperback out in August!

Binge-watched Bridgerton for some indulgent escapism. The fab ESEA on-screen rep was long overdue and felt so meaningful - loved the Cantonese! Katie Leung did her thing as a villain with depth. She narrated my #IamNotATourist audiobook, so if you want more, there’s 9+ hrs of her gorgeous voice!

2025 was a monumental year with the publication of my #IamNotaTourist book & the East Asian artist showcase at Old Fire Station that I organised. Met so many amazing people this year! Got this 2026 peace diary from my fave radical bookshop to use as a gratitude journal. Hope 2026 brings you peace.

Had a blast last night meeting British Chinese Society members for their London book club meet-up. Was great to talk about my book but more so to hear about others’ experiences. Even managed to reconnect with the China Exchange guide who took me around Chinatown (and I mention them in the book)!
