Last year, Nike made $23 billion. Its founder is worth $35 billion. But Nike pays just dollars a day to the workers who make its products. Today I met Dinar, who sews 222 labels an hour onto Nike products. She is paid $202 a month. This is corporate greed at its worst.

Relieved to hear that all the advocacy from my sector ensured that Carney re-introduced a Minister for Women and Equality. Reminder that holding politicians accountable is literally our job as voters. Calling out Carney did not mean we wanted the CPCs to win. It was for this exact outcome.

In New York, ICE detained a busload of farmworkers that were actively involved in a union drive. In Washington state, ICE dragged a farmworkers’ rights activist and leader out of his car to detain him. Be warned: attacking unions is a hallmark of fascism.

A small pencil. A single box. And the most powerful act in a democracy. Vote. Like our country depends on it. Like we’re honouring those who fought to give us that right. Like we care deeply about democracy. Vote like our voices matter, because they really do.
