Today is Book Store day. I decided a few years ago that my son and I needed more positive holiday memories. Since we both love a local bookshop, and since we live in the home of #PowellsBooks, we started a yearly visit during the holidays, followed by dim sum or hot pot from a local restaurant.

Three day weekend. Technically four, but Sunday and Monday are my days to re-calibrate to night shift. Took part of today to sweep and mop the kitchen and bathroom, and collect the garbage and recycling in my house. Pleased-ish on the current state of things. Will do more Sunday. Baby steps.

Had such a great time at the last Orycon ever. Participated in a panel on "Queer in Gaming". The questions from the group were thoughtful, the group was engaged, and I really felt like we were able to clearly discuss why having Queer and LGBTQIA+ spaces available at the table was important.

This type of double standard is what is meant when "white privilege" is mentioned. When two people of different skin tones are held to different levels of responsibility for their actions, and their sentences for crimes are significantly different.

Got the kilt done yesterday. Handed it back to the owner who is utterly chuffed about it. The hook and eyes are set a little loose, as it looks like he lost weight since I measured, but there's belt loops and he was planning on wearing a belt anyway. He also liked the additions I put on them.

Things that wouldn't shock a chronic pain sufferer, but would apparently shot the Dr treating us... We will take the least amount of pain meds to make us productive. We aren't looking to get high, we're looking to get a modicum of relief so we can do things.

Today is a bad pain day. In the grand tradition of chronic pain sufferers who work full time, I was forced to go into the office 100% on Monday because of upper mgmt demands. By Wednesday, I was exhausted, but had a choir concert to go to for my son. That was it. That was the tipping point.
