Just realising how much AAVE is being appropriated, and I don't think we notice because it's become so widely used online by non Black people like me. Even the word 'woke' is AAVE. Taylor Swift and 'haters gonna hate'. I'm going to try to be more conscious of this and do better.

So... A lot of people are responding to this saying that words change and like.... Yes they do, but usually it's the people who SPEAK THE LANGUAGE who change the meaning of the words. "Woke" as a term comes from AAVE and means something VERY DIFFERENT than what non-Black people use it as.

The seasonal worker visa’s structure impedes union organising, with workers in the country for no longer than six months. But with the scheme ongoing since the 2019 pilot and looking like it’s here to stay, it makes sense to ask whether major unions could be doing more to overcome these challenges
