I'm curious why the London library ebook system has bought 88 copies of a fairly obscure (165 ratings/37 reviews on Goodreads) non-fiction work. For context, most stuff only has 1 copy in the system, and for some Sarah J. Maas titles - about as popular as things get? - they only have 6-15 copies.

I just looked at how many First Novels Locus recommended the past few years: 2022: 25 2023: 25 2024: 23 2025: 12 I also just ran some rough stats for some of the main US publishers, and I don't see that there were fewer debut novels from genre imprints than in previous years.
