Most competently represented LGBTQI+ refugees from Pakistan ought to win their appeals, but a) not everyone can find competent (or any) representation and b) people shouldn’t be put through the stress, delay and sheer terror of having to appeal

If you wonder why so many people get refused asylum and have to appeal, one reason is that the Home Office do weaselly things like this with the evidence about risks on return, with the apparent intention of encouraging its staff to refuse entirely meritorious claims

Boiling with rage hearing on the radio that Labour is welcoming in Refugee Week with the announcement that instead of asylum hotels they’ll be expanding the Disastrous Dehumanising & MORE EXPENSIVE “Mass” accommodation sites at places like ex-army bases. There are not enough facepalms.

Ahh, the government trying to plug any and all safe routes for individuals at risk of serious harm to stay in the UK. It really disgusts me that they will still simultaneously pedal a narrative about wanting to ‘smash the gangs’ to protect vulnerable people.
