At this month’s Cross Party Group on Cancer, our colleague Greg Pycroft set out the reality of the deadliest cancers in Wales. Less survivable cancers make up 25% of diagnoses but 40% of deaths, a gap that simply shouldn’t exist. 🧡📊

📢 The most recent gynaecological cancer waiting time figures (July) show a worrying drop in early-stage diagnoses, now just 32.4%, down from 47% in June. Early diagnosis and timely treatment save lives. This backwards step is not acceptable.

📢 New evaluation shows Cardiff’s Prehab2Rehab programme helps cancer patients recover faster. On average, patients spend 3 fewer days in hospital after surgery. That’s around £1,500 saved per patient for the NHS.

Over 20 MSs joined us at @senedd.wales yesterday to mark #LessSurvivableCancersAwarenessWeek. More than half of people in Wales diagnosed with a cancer of the stomach, pancreas, oesophagus, lung, liver, or brain will die within one year. We need urgent action to close the deadly cancer gap.

Earlier this week @patientsassoc.bsky.social published their report on "Improving health equity for patients living with cancer and/or blood disorders". It was supported by BMS and members of the All-Wales Cancer Community and @tenovuscancercare.bsky.social informed the findings. 🧵 1:11
