Listened to Is This It by The Strokes on my Yamaha NS10s. I've heard this album a hundred times, but on these it just sounds exactly as it should; it feels perfect. Can't yet find any info to confirm Gordon Raphael mixed it on NS10s, but I'd put money on it that he did.

Going up north for a few days and I'm excited to check out the new McDonald's drive-thru that's built on a field next to a former WW2 prisoner of war camp. To a 1940's POW on rations, the concept of a chicken McNugget, let alone 24hr convenience, would've been a madman's dream.

It's just occurred to me that, in the past week, two friends who were bass players in my first couple of bands got in touch. One wanted to set up a time for a call and the other wanted to hang out. Neither finished the conversation and committed to a time/place.

My social media is full of gig and festival clips in summer - it's fucking brilliant. For me, the music that comes from the British Isles is the best in the world and our greatest export. I feel really proud of it. Always an icebreaker when meeting people from other countries
