As some people are adding me from starter packs, a quick intro for any OTs. I’m an Occupational Therapist, and I’m autistic. I work with autistic clients. I’m neuroaffirmative in practice. I’m a strong skeptic when it comes to Ayers Sensory Integration. I campaign against ABA/PBS. I love MOHO.

Choosing occupational therapy meant choosing a career that sees the whole person not just the medical diagnosis but the social, emotional, and environmental factors that shape everyday life. Yes, that’s certainly more tricky when external. I worked alongside many such initiatives in the community. I recall fantastic work, though absence of nuance when dealing with complex cases & our more specialist Ax needed. We def need to be very clear what it is we have to offer that is different.

Not sure how your services are structured Suz, but although our activity workers are under nursing numbers & budgets, our enlightened matron put them under my management. That way we have them all working more like TIs under OT philosophy & guidance so they support our aims rather than dilute them
