BMI isn’t a problematic measure because it sometimes misidentifies football players as fat. it’s problematic because it’s a tool that’s used to make arbitrary cutoffs that impede individuals access basic to healthcare and stigmatize them. its inaccuracy should not overshadow its redundancy.

It's trans day of remembrance where we remember all of our siblings we've lost this year to violence and hate. We know we've lost at least 350 trans and nonbinary people have been murdered in the last year. We honor the dead and fight like hell for the living.

Repeat after me: I am not “bad” or “naughty” for eating Halloween candy. It is appropriate for me to enjoy a treat for the holiday. When I use moralizing language like this around children, I communicate to them that their enjoyment of food is wrong or shameful.
