we’re up early. We could not take the dogs last night. The thing about IVIG is the first 24 hours it just wipes you out. I really can’t do anything so we just decided to stay at home but the dogs are OK. I think it takes about 48 hours to start kicking in we’ll just be relaxing until then. #Birds

when I talk to Woodland Park zoo who has a Pacific chorus frog program and have been trying to track re-introductions. They said it is very difficult that when they re-introduced the frogs to Green Lake. There was some the first year and then there’s been zero sightings ever since. Red again today:

The banded Cooper’s Hawk was here today. This is the only camera that captured them. #Birds this camera had trouble looking into the sun and so I can’t tell the color of the bands. If it’s purple it’s if it’s orange it’s female. It looks a little small to me.

OK friends this is really funny. I marked something as sensitive content because it sounds like an animal screaming but it’s also in the pitch black that my camera picked up and I wanted help identifying it, but I can’t see it because I have marked graphic media as “hidden”

taken by my son in the backyard, he was outside and the dogs were on their lunch break inside . Is this Red Junior? it’s hard to tell if this is a red mohawk or if it’s reflecting off the red house. It looks mature to me and not as plump as the juveniles.

I left the cameras on at night, but there’s absolutely zero light in my yard to make them go off. I have worked for 30 years to block out every street light from coming into my yard because I know how much light pollution harms all wildlife birds insects aquatic insects amphibians. 1/2

here is song sparrow feeding another young one. We first saw a Song Sparrow feeding a juvenile early in the spring, but that bird now eats on its own. I don’t know if they’re only having one at a time because of declining resources. During times of drought, it’s harder to find in insects. 🪶

here is Song sparrow at the South pond. It was the first extra pond. We built to try to save some tadpoles from the raccoons, but we decided to uncover it now because we saw some frogslets. When the frogs emerge they will need to be able to hop back in the water as a form of defense

I just got good news. I found a spot on the waitlist for Thursday morning for the IVIG treatment that my health insurance has denied for almost 6 months now I am thrilled. It probably won’t work as immediately as it did the first time I did it because I’m way worse, but still I’m really happy.

It seems like honeybees prefer the butterfly weed and bumblebees prefer the swamp milkweed. 🤔🌱🐝

happy to see a juvenile Dark EyedJunco this one looks a little older, never saw any young ones. These birds usually have the most fledglings in my yard -not this year. consistently broods of the ground nesting birds are small this year. Only seeing one at a time. 😞 #Birds
