I’ve gone for “Medicine Man” from 2009 by #Zero7 and #ESKA (Mtungwazi), which has been a great family favourite, layered and very well done…

Getting late again but it is still #Day25 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic and the theme is ‘With a type of food or drink in the title’… #Placebo’s 1998 album Without You I’m Nothing has a track on it called “Burger Queen” so that’s what I picked today.

Today, #Day24, in an attempt to stay on track for #DavidsMonthOfMusic, the theme is ‘By a duo’ which brings to mind some pop couples (Sonny & Cher, etc) & collaborations (e.g. Elton duets) & small bands. I stuck with pop couples & the awesome track “Proud Mary” (1970) by #IkeAndTinaTurner #RIP.

Yesterday, the theme for #Day23 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic was a fun one! ‘With a type of building in the title’… House? Flat? Apartment? Shed? Office? Factory? Bungalow? Cottage? Semi? #Madness “Our House” (1982) #TheAnimals “The House Of The Rising Sun” (1963) #ShedSeven “Room In My House” (2017)

Whoops! Missed posting #Day22 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic with theme ‘With a two-word title’ so here’s my belated suggestion: “Dear Prudence” (1983) by #SiouxsieAndTheBanshees Feels like it stands the test of time, this song is a memory from my youth, but I’d be happy with it now too.

Congrats to #AlfieMoore who has won Best Comedy award for “It’s A Fair Cop” show on #BBC #Radio4 at the #ARIAS for 2026!! Always love listening to this show, very unique perspective but much laughter ensues and I learn loads from it too! #RecommendedListening

Failing today to think of ‘An earworm’ for #Day20 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic - this might be down to not really being surrounded by specific music shows or the more limited range of songs being released…. There used to be much fewer places you would hear anything new, so it would get repeated often!

So, the 19th May #Day19 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic has theme of ‘With heaven or hell in the title”… One of my favourite songs is “Hell” (1997) by #SquirrelNutZippers of N Carolina, whom I met in Camden, London around 2000. But, from 1989, I have also loved “Tell Me There’s A Heaven” by #ChrisRea #RIP.

Gutted to hear this overnight… #RIP rugby player #ScottHastings whom I remember watching with my rugby-player-and-fan Scottish father as we cheered on the team… And with his brother #GavinHastings, playing for #Scotland back in the ‘80s. Many condolences to Scott’s family, & Gavin & family also.

This should be easy today for #Day17 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic, theme being ‘With love in title’ - aren’t most songs about love?? So it could be a difficult choice!! I picked “Love Sweet Love” from 2000 by fabulous #Morcheeba featuring #MrComplex, always liked the chilled vibe on it and bass line.

So, something ‘Not Safe For Work’ for today #Day16 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic has a theme which I find hard to find something for in my collection… is it bad for work colleagues, for roles, or something else? I had a look & have chosen a 1992 #Morrissey track entitled “You’re The One For Me, Fatty”.

Curious theme this time for #Day15 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic song challenge: ‘With a body of water in the title’. Maybe “Lake Of Fire” by #Nirvana on MTV Unplugged in late 1994, acoustic as well…? But I chose the futuristic-sounding “Ocean” (2018) by #Goldfrapp featuring #DaveGahan of #DepecheMode.

We’re onto #Day14 of May and of #DavidsMonthOfMusic which has the theme ‘The title track of an album’. A fast memory comes, and it’s #DireStraits and “Brothers In Arms” which was released in 1985 in the U.K…. Such a powerful track in my youth!

Onto the theme for #Day13 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic which is ‘With a Q, X or Z in the title’, so there’s quite a range of choices here! First thought: #Björk’s version of “It’s Oh So Quiet” from 1995. Then I recalled one of my faves, #GnarlsBarkley and “Crazy” from 2005 and their album ‘St Elsewhere’.

Songs ‘With night or day in the title’ are for #Day12 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic at the ready: “A Hard Day’s Night” by #TheBeatles (1964) “Night And Day” (written Cole Porter in 1932, recorded by many) “Brand New Day” by #Sting (1999) As a more recent track, I pick “One More Night” by #Maroon5 (2012)

Oh my word!! Hooted with laughter for all 4 guests, and then mentally-applauded the fabulous ‘perfect’ round on the subject ‘Bears’ by #ZoeLyons during last night’s #TheUnbelievableTruth episode on #BBCRadio4 when I was listening to it in the car… “Polar bears are actually Irish”…

As scaffolding rises around The Folly, it’s a good reminder to look up. Stonework, windows and small details that many of us probably pass every day without noticing. Museum closed until Summer 2026. Coffee House open Mon-Sat, 10am-4pm.

Today was a little less usual… #DavidsMonthOfMusic #Day11 and ‘With ! or ? in the title’. First thought “What difference does it make?” (1984) by #TheSmiths. Then I found a vintage #fave of mine, “Who?” from a 1925 musical, sung by #TheLondonSwingOrchestra with lead vocals #GrahamDalby in 1997.

A sneaky London appearance for me on Wednesday, doing all new material. I happen to know some of it is going to be pretty good, some garbage. (Vix's show is watertight, though.) I believe the tickets are also quite cheap. That's important in the current climate.

#MusicChallenge today for #Day10 of #DavidsMonthOfMusic is ‘With a mode of transport in the title’. Bus, car, train, tram, trolleybus, boat, ship, canoe, plane, bicycle... I chose “Night Boat To Cairo” from the excellent #Madness, recorded 1979, but still so well-loved whenever they play live now.

Dropped off some clothing & things to the charity shop this morning. Is it bad to exit the shop having bought 5 books and some cards?? Admittedly only one book was for me….

Glad to have got mine, no worries about that, but getting hold of a paperback recently released has proved trickier at some places… hoping there’ll be some stock there!
