Winnipeg’s 2026 preliminary budget is fully balanced and makes generational investments in our city’s future — while keeping property taxes the lowest in Canada.

One of the things that really bothers me downtown is seeing garbage bins sitting wide open and trash on the sidewalks. We’re fixing that. New lockable bins are being installed along Main St & Portage Ave to help keep downtown cleaner. If they work as well as we expect, we’ll look to add more.

Think Winnipeg’s property taxes are high compared to other cities? Here’s a surprise — they’re actually the lowest among major Canadian cities for a typical home. I’ll be sharing more info about how Winnipeg stacks up ahead of the November 14 city budget.

Alexander Docks will become one of Winnipeg’s great riverfront parks — a place for everyone to gather, reflect and enjoy the water. The Forks has a strong record of developing and maintaining public spaces that are engaging and safe, and I’m confident they’ll do the same here.

The City of Winnipeg will offer 34 acres of land it owns alongside the privately owned Lemay Forest to support a future provincial park.

We’re tackling the problems that have held our city back for decades, and Building Winnipeg for the generations ahead. From transit and housing to Portage Place and the North End treatment plant, we’re making real progress. And we’re just getting started.
