Warning! Do not start this series if you do not have the time and money to spare. Book 8 is due out in the spring and I have no idea how this story can possibly be wrapped up in the 10 books planned by @mattdinniman.bsky.social I’m hopelessly hooked now though and will be in it for the long haul. 📚💙

I’m sure I’ve complained about this before and likely will again, but nothing takes me out of a story faster than the voice actor of an audiobook trying to do gendered voices. I manage to mostly ignore it after a while if it’s a good book, but it bugs the hell out of me. Just read the damn book.

The firm referred to here, The Huron Consulting Group, has reportedly been hired by the Houston government in Nova Scotia to oversee the changes this government is trying to force on universities in the province. This should tell us a lot about the government’s goals and we should be very concerned.

Finished the final book in The Indian Lake Trilogy by @sgj.bsky.social last night. A fitting ending to a great series. Now I need to focus on watching all of the horror movies referenced in the books boxd.it/QFE1u I consider myself a horror buff but I’ve only seen 211 of the 384 listed. 📚💙

2025 Reading Year in Review. Day 8. My most read authors this year are Stephen Graham Jones at 6 books, Martha Wells at 5, T. Kingfisher at 4, and Nathan Ballingrud, Ray Bradbury, Becky Chambers, J. G. Ballard, and Jeff Vandermeer at 3. 📚💙

Dungeon Crawler Carl was a blast, but why did nobody tell me there were 7 more books in this still unfinished series?! With next year’s reading all planned out, I’m going to have to wait another year to get back to this now. 📚💙

2025 Reading Year in Review. Day 7. I’ve always been a horror movie buff but only started reading Horror as an adult last year. I’m now making up for lost time. 34 of the 96 books I’ve read so far in 2025 have been horror novels and I’ll be adding to that number before the year is out. 📚💙

2025 Reading Year in Review. Day 4. Another goal I had this year was to read more classic novels and big weighty tomes. I started with War and Peace in January (finished in March) and that’s as far as I got. There will be a year for this kind of reading, but this wasn’t it. 📚💙

Just finished book 2 of The Indian Lake Trilogy by @sgj.bsky.social and I just have one question. Why the hell haven’t these made it to the screen yet? Please tell me this is in the works for sometime in the near future. Like all good slasher sequels, this one cranks things up to 11. 📚💙

It’s shameful the government hasn’t made this public or addressed the report’s findings. Another in a long list of shameful action and inaction of the Houston government.

Next year promises to be a quiet year at work, so I've decided to give myself a real reading challenge for the year. The plan is to read a book from every year beginning in 1900 to 2026. I've had fun putting together the list of books and collecting them to be ready for January. Wish me luck. 📚💙

Book #90 for the year. I set my goal lower this year (72) because I was busy with contract negotiations, but it looks like I’ll crack 100 after all. I’ll start posting some highlights of the reading year through December. It’s been rather random and unfocused but still lots of great books. 📚💙

Starting to see ads for Black Friday sales so time to remind people to support your local independent bookstores and don’t give Bezos any more money. This applies year round, but is extra critical this time of year.

Just finished Absolution by @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social Absofuckinglutely brilliant. Best in the series for my money. I seem to be in the minority who liked Authority best of the original trilogy though, so what do I know. This series demands a reread. #BookSky 📚💙
