I visited Brussels with colleagues from Georgian online media. It was a busy, important, and emotional trip, full of off-the-record meetings about Georgia’s political situation and future. And It crushes me to see us losing our chance to be part of Europe because of an oligarch.

There’s no way for Georgian Dream to continue like this forever. This is a test of nerves and endurance. The one who endures the longest will win and I am sure, it will be us. Just a little more.

Today, Nino Datashvili was released on bail. She had difficulty walking and was crying from the pain. Her health condition had worsened in prison, and she now needs two surgeries. This situation could have been prevented, but at least she is no longer in prison. 📸: Mariam Qavshbaia/Publika.ge

It’s very difficult to attend the Rustaveli protest every day. It takes a lot of physical and emotional strength. That’s why it isn’t full of people every day. But the protest and the anger are still here, if not grown after all the injustices the GD gov't has inflicted.

Publika journalist Mamuka (Basti) Mgaloblishvili was arrested, allegedly for “blocking Rustaveli.” He had been covering the protests there for the past few days. We are trying to find out more details.

The State Security Service says former MP Irakli Gharibashvili admitted to illegally receiving budget funds for years but will “consider measures” against him since he cooperated with investigators. Meanwhile, people are jailed for years for doing nothing.

Under the GD government’s repressive law, dozens were detained for blocking Rustaveli Ave, including 76-year-old Giorgi Vachadze. Judge Koba Chagunava gave him a verbal reprimand; a second violation could lead to criminal prosecution.

1/ So, if you are standing on the sidewalk on Rustaveli, you most likely won’t be arrested, but on your way home, the police will search you to see if you have a face mask, including medical masks, that could be used to cover your face.

After the Rose Revolution, perhaps even before the 2024 elections, Georgia experienced its most hopeful period in centuries. After generations of occupation and suffering, we believed we could build a decent, European state. Georgian Dream is taking that hope away.
