I don't only make sad songs, i also make upbeat or even danceable songs. "Time's Up" has flavors of deep and disco house, and I'm glad I was able to pay homage while still bringing something fresh. It's streaming everywhere early; here's one link:

"Bread and Circus" started up during a night I was baking, and as the song grew, the idea of how much we are losing today while so many simply plow ahead struck me as so sad. You can listen early here:

"Saskatchewan" is a short, dynamic song, clearly in the style of Boards of Canada and one thing I always have liked about BoC is that there is an underlying menace in so many of their songs. Not violence, but an unknowable thing. Anyway you can listen early, here:

Unsurprisingly, I've yet to hear any AI music that surprises me. It's all so far just lesser copies of existing style with the "it factor" stripped out. Style-less.

I remember it was a big deal for hidden tracks to be even more secret than usual and you had to check at the first track by trying to rewind it, since some were before the first song. The internet was barely there, so we were all just goofin on this as best we could figure out

On physical media, an album could sneak a secret in (locked groove, an extra bit of weird sound, incidental music, or eventually a full track). They were good secrets, and not on liner notes. Listen all the way through, and then it continues after a period of silence.

I miss hidden tracks

Don't be disheartened by the idea that "only musicians listen." Musicians have ALWAYS been first. They love to hear the new, the exciting, the pushed boundary, the fresh voice. And they talk about it.

Someone told me "I can't hear how you mixed your album. It just... sounds like music. How'd you do that?" Sometimes I don't even know!

As a young teen, I overheard someone say "I like Nirvana, because they have a loud part, and then a quiet part, and then it's loud again."

Has anyone pledged to a kickstarter for a band or artist they like? I've done a couple; they were both in pre-order style, before Bandcamp was doing it easily, although Bandcamp still requires there to be a THING before you can sell it.

Kids wanted fresh bread this weekend, so I got it started around 10am. By 4pm, a beautiful, delicious, admittedly tiny loaf was sitting there, cooling down for dinner. Baking by weight is amazing
