After being evicted and losing their job as a result, Yuexia decided to leave Gotham. They hadn't expected that being outside of the city would give them even more trouble. The racism was to be expected, but they were shocked the first time that they almost got attacked for doing a bit of magic.

Under the cover of night and their veil, Yuexia began setting up wards around Gotham. Putting up wards looked very suspicious. Yuexia was driving wooden stakes into the ground and drawing runes into stone tablets, occasionally using their own blood to draw. Hence why they were operating at night.

"...you've been in my apartment, which is in Gotham..."

Yuexia became more unsettled after a few moments. They sent out a subtle wave of magic to try and learn more about whoever was watching then. To those with the right skill set, it was clear their magic was demonic in nature.
