Sad day for indie games. In the Steam update released today, Popular Upcoming seems to have jumped from ~10-15k wishlists to ~80-100k. Last year, fewer than 20 real self-published indies launched with numbers like that. That’s not discoverability anymore. That’s a gate. #gamedev #indiegame

Steam just made a change that could really hurt future indie games. Popular Upcoming used to be chronological. If you had enough wishlists, smaller indies could get time near the top before launch. That mattered most for the 10k to 15k wishlist games. #gamedev #indiegame

The Hive: Survival Mode just reached 300 Steam wishlists. That alone already feels good for a DLC to our 10-year-old RTS. But the nicer surprise was the base game. The Hive got 669 new wishlists last week, up from 48 the week before. #gamedev #indiegame
