Finally got around to reading GILEAD by Marilynne Robinson. It was boring, but also written with such conviction I couldn't put it down. At times, it felt closer to a book of philosophy or theology than a novel.

Spent time this morning thinking about what it means to “sell” my book to a publisher. My agent suggested changing the title of one of my novels because “positive/upbeat” is what they're looking for — which feels like the tail wagging the dog, but whatever, it's a small thing.

Just finished ONLY SON by Kevin Moffett ( @mcsweeneys.net ). It's stunning. Wildly moving and perfectly vulnerable. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a new book. #booksky
