...trying to figure myself out and such. And because of that I wasn't as supportive as I should have been. But, as I said, people can change and grow from their mistakes to try and become better people and be AMAZING grandparents.

Gods forbid someone grows as a person, realises the mistakes they've made in life (even if they can't fix them anymore), but resolves to be a better person and grow from the whole thing. Because sure, I wasn't the greatest parent when our kids were growing up, I was too stuck in my own head...
