To kick off our celebration of Languages Week Scotland, P4S began their language portraits. Pupils included the flags of countries of significance to them. This may be where they were born, where they holiday, where they have friends, or the languages they speak. @drparnellbps.bsky.social

We worked incredibly hard last term on our Christmas Concert. Across P4, we performed ‘Feliz Navidad’ and ‘Jingle Bell Rock’. It was wonderful to see such a turnout on the day!

We continue to work through the UNCRC Outright campaign. We have learned about international aid, what is takes to keep us safe, when people might need help, our rights and the rights of others. @rightsbeancross.bsky.social

Last term, we had a big focus on developing our inference skills. The class had great fun practising this with digital texts. We are transferring this to printed texts this term too.

@mrsinclair.bsky.social P4S have been transported back to the 13th century! As part of our Scottish Wars of Independence learning, we’ve been busy creating our very own legendary Scots warriors. We were developing our fine motor skills while deepening our understanding of Scotland's past. 🛡️🏰

Congratulations to this P4S pupil placing 3rd in Beanie’s Got Talent! He worked so hard and regularly attended practice sessions during his lunchtime. We are very proud!

While learning about our senses, we decided to put them to the test. The class went on a walk around the playground to record what we could see, hear, feel, smell and taste. We ended our walk with an eyes-closed hearing game!

At Beancross, we are taking part in UNICEF’s Outright Campaign. Here, we are learning about the concept of international aid. In groups, we received scenarios and made choices about which essential supplies we would send and why. @rightsbeancross.bsky.social

With @mrsjack.bsky.social, P4S have started using Lego Spike. With iPads, pupils can access instructions to create a range of exciting builds.

To wrap up our study of Sleeping Beauty, we took part in a consolidation exercise. We are now working on an explanation text about our senses.

On our last day, we conducted a Term 1 review with station rotations. 1. What I learned. 2. What I wish I learned. 3. How I will improve. 4. My favourite moment this term. 5. What I did not enjoy. 6. What I am looking forward to next term. Pupils’ thinking will support Term 2 planning.

Lately, in our ‘Human Body’ topic, we have been learning about the five senses. In trios, we used iPads and teamwork to research and present factfiles on the different senses.

As part of our work on ‘Sleeping Beauty’, we paired up to act out different scenes from the story. Here are pictures of some of the brave pairs that were keen to share their creations. We were greatly entertained by the children who (quite literally) threw themselves into their roles!

As a school, we are adopting the ‘Zones of Regulation’ emotional framework. This uses four coloured zones to help identify our emotions. In P4S, we considered ways we can get ourselves to the green zone. This led to a lively discussion about how we can personalise our self-regulation strategies.

As part of our ‘Human Body’ topic, we have been exploring how we breathe. Here is an example of a model we have been working on to understand the function of our lungs and diaphragm. We will soon share our finished models.

It was lovely to see so many come along to P4S for today’s ‘Meet the Teacher’. We enjoyed getting to show you a few of the ways we are learning to spell, and we hope to welcome you back soon!

@mrsinclair P4S enjoyed their shape hunt on Wednesday! We looked around the school grounds for quadrilaterals, took pictures and then used PicCollage to share our findings with the class.
