I could see someone being turn off from Ape Escape because of its weird and unconventional control scheme but I don't think Ape Escape is great in spite of its control scheme. I think it's great specifically because of the control scheme.

Breath of Fire IV's mechanics are based directly on BoF3 and it plays pretty much identically to that game, with all the same positives and negatives.

The hole in the ozone layer was actually very serious and a global effort allowed it to recover. Y2K WAS actually a serious problem and people worked countless hours to make sure nobody even noticed. Air and water pollution was catastrophic in many places and incredible effort reversed that damage.
