My son had a Ukrainian refugee in his daycare last year. He understood she was here because Russia was dropping bombs on her house. He loved her and got why she sometimes had a tough time. It is heartbreaking how empathy so obvious to children is so lacking in US government right now.

Civil servants include some of the hardest working, most intellectually curious people I know. They chose this career path because they care about the future of our planet and its people.
