I saw Materialist tonight with highish expectations because Celine Song’s 1st film, Past Lives, was so beautiful. But this movie is utter crap, sentimental, cringey dialogue, terrible pacing. Here is a now outdated press release from the day of. We have since found out that Fountain Walker, Vice President for Global Safety, ordered the arrests and issued the persona non grata statuses, basically without oversight. The provost’s office in unable to control his decisions.

NYU Admin is completely out of control, arresting faculty and community members for peacefully protesting for disclosure and divestment, declaring some of those faculty "persona non grata." Just wild.

Something is deeply wrong with our souls and our institutions when we watch genocidal slaughter and the evisceration of international law and declare “non grata” the young people and professors who see, think and act. Support @nyufsjp.bsky.social
