"Bye-Bye, Birdie" is one of my favorite musical plays and one of my least favorite movies. The original stage version takes a sarcastic bite out of 1950s Americana. The film version turns Dick Van Dyke into the inventor of speed.

This seems like the opposite way to go. When short form videos through social media are what kids are used to, wouldn't it make more sense to go back to the old format with songs and sketches? A variety style show with a large cast that jumps around like the original Sesame Street seems more modern.
