...because I've been home sick since Friday, that's why. I might have to bail on this particular run. I'm at cycle 160 and I'm running dangerously close to not having enough resources to push into the midgame.

I keep feeling like RC's comms would go a lot better for them if they stopped the corporate-comms routine, and spoke in a genuine manner to the Ruby community _as a a member of the community_.

Ruby community: Look, we can be angry about what's happening, we can raise our complaints, but under no circumstances should anyone _ever_ harass someone's families, coworkers, or friends. That is completely unacceptable, and wholly against the ethos of the language. We must do better.

I continue to fund
@hanamirb.org
because I believe in
@timriley.info
as a leader who will create communities that welcome everyone, not just a select few. He, to me, represents the heart of Ruby and I am proud to support him and Hanami.

I feel like every time I set up a SPOM I make the same series of mistakes. Having to manage the initial build, creating a vacuum, etc demands micromanaging the simplistic prioritization and task AI of the dupes.

Someone got so mad that a library I wrote doesn't support Rails 7, that instead of fixing the problem (by adding one line to a YML file..) they instead wrote an entirely new version of it from scratch that ONLY supports Rails 7.

Hi folks, I am the president of the Ruby Central board. I don’t have time to reply to posts individually, but I do want to make clear that recent changes to permissions in our open source projects were done in collaboration with the organization’s leadership and not by one person unilaterally 🧵

The 🏍️ broke down Friday night ~200 miles NW of Minneapolis. I've been sitting in this small town waiting for a tow truck since then, watching clouds and thinking about software.

I wonder what the implications of LLM development will be for folks with ADHD, given the carrot of spin-the-wheel dopamine shots (“maybe it’ll work this time!”) and lengthy generation/response cycles.

"vibe coding" feels a lot like Rails generators - a neat party trick, and certainly impressive to people who have minimal coding experience, but aren't terribly practical for the majority of day-to-day engineering tasks.
