Working on the second day of my advanced programming lesson for the only public game school in france (ENJMIN ftw \o/) I'm doing a cool practical exercice where the students would have to use the CPU cache to optimize a fluid simulation. But I'm having too much fun with the simulation 😂

Not a lot of visual changes tonight, but I optimised and refactored several things, I have now a solid framerate for the "classic tunnel" on bigger resolution! The issue is that I now have to work on the input system.. and I don't want to ='( #gamedev #gameengine

Yesterday I wanted to implement a procedural dithering inspired by @curseofremy.bsky.social 's work but I was to tired. So I did it first thing after waking up! Didn't even got my coffee yet! #gamedev #gameengine

Ok,slowly getting somewhere! I introduced more shapes, rotation, sprite loading, sprite conversion to the indexed palette the engine is using (the pico8 one for now), sprite rotation, sprite scaling. Now, I need to rework the input handling and then switch to cpp for the script! #gamedev #gameengine

Couldn't resist doing a classic tunnel before going to bed =p It was fun to go back in this old project, I can see that I learned so much since then.

OK... before the new scripting backend let's take the evening to implement rotation on the different shapes =p I don't know yet how to make a rotated filled rect tho 🤔 #gamedev

I was mostly a designer for this jam, it was weird =p I'm more used to be in the programmer or artist role. It was fun nonetheless!! I'm very happy for the creativity score since our objective was to make a game with an original idea! But we need to focus more on polish and tutorial in our next jam!
