A bit late to the

It may cause some 'debate' on its design quality but, whether you like it or not, Old Head offers a cliff-top, ocean-roaring experience that no other course can match.

The par-3s on the Powerscourt West course are one of many stand-out features - the greens being the biggest - so here’s the first par-3 you’ll encounter: the 2nd. Mind the water 💦

One of Ireland’s lesser known parklands is Macreddin Golf Club, particularly significant as it was Paul McGinley’s first design. The course roves over two sides of a gorse- and pine-drenched valley. Pics from past two days.

For places I've played a lot, I still miss playing the 14th at Marianna Butte Golf Course in Loveland, CO. A very fun public course. (photo mine). Colorado provided a lot of opportunities for downhill (and uphill) holes.

I love short downhill par-3s. This would be my most memorable location: Pebble Beach's 7th (not my photo)

A popular

question seems to be: what is your favourite par-3? So, show us a picture of your favourite short hole and tell us where it is. Mine is the 14th on

A fine place for a game is one of Ireland's finest inland 9 hole courses, Blessington Lakes GC. You're guaranteed spectacular views stretching across the Blessington Lakes to the Wicklow mountains. The club, known as Boystown GC until 2009, began in 1998 on the land of Donie McEvoy.

Since 2009, there has been no new golf course designed in Ireland. Not one* Now, however, Curracloe Links is in development in the south east (Wexford), where Fry & Straka are creating something unique. * St Patrick's opened in 2021, but it was built on the site of two former golf courses
